<\/figure>\n\n\n\nOn the same magazine we find another more extravagant but not less implausible method, based on electricity: a \u201cunique\u201d and modern approach, \u201cconfirmed by the International Electrology Congress at Milan Expo 1906\u201d. The article presented more than 5000 healed from baldness, and promised a diagnosis only by sending a sample of hair. The treatment? With electricity! Not very credible, isn\u2019t it?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But let\u2019s speak about petroleum! How could oil improve the health of the scalp? Obviously, oil-based products could easily kill lice, but what about baldness?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In general, there was a strong competition in this sector, with many products sold in Italian pharmacies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cPolli Pharmacy\u201d of Milan proposed, in 1899, its \u201cpetroleum for hair\u201d, to stop loss, particularly in case of \u201cserious illness\u201d, \u201cabundant dandruff and sweat\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Another diffused product was the \u201cunrivalled essential petroleum I. Herbert\u201d from Turin, \u201chygienic\u201d and \u201csweetly aromatic\u201d, which ensured \u201crich and elegant hair\u201d. It was often sold together with the \u201ctrue Fedora Water\u201d for \u201chair and beard regeneration\u201d: basically, a dye that could stop hair loss.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The \u201ctrue Hahn Petroleum\u201d from Geneve, instead, was available in perfumeries: it was \u201chighly effective for hair preservation and regeneration\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThomas Petroleum\u201d was launched in 1904, and it fought \u201cillnesses of the scalp, like itching and dandruff\u201d. Using it, your hair could become \u201csoft and abundant\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In 1909, in Venice, you could find the \u201cPetrolina Longega\u201d, a product based on odourless, softly perfumed petroleum, able to grow hair; it was recommended for everyone, \u201cespecially for ladies\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Oil, however, wasn\u2019t only the main ingredient of these products, but also a sort of modern fragrance. There was, for example, the \u201cChinina Mignone\u201d, a new item for \u201chair growth and preservation\u201d available in three versions: \u201cAromaric, odourless or petroleum\u201d.
